It has been a while since my last installment of Ask Megs. In fact, it has been 2 years. We get dozens of emails daily and many of them are questions about bags. Because I spend all day researching, looking at, and shopping for bags, I love to help anyone else out in their quest. This week I am spotlighting Jenna E., who is torn between purchasing the Louis Vuitton Damier Neverfull and the Louis Vuitton Damier Speedy.

Jenna, it comes down to preference and what use you need from your handbag. That first line I just told you is entirely vague and probably annoying to read. But I promise to clarify my feelings on each bags, which hopefully will help you pick which is the best fit for you.

The Louis Vuitton Speedy is one of the most classic, most iconic, most recognizable handbags of all time. Many designers have tried to channel the Speedy when designing a bag, but nothing beats the original. The shape alone is worth buying (which is a major part of it being a Speedy). Now comes in personal preference. The Speedy does not fit over your shoulder, at all. My Speedy bags sit at the crux of my arm, and depending on how much I put in the bag they end up being heavy and hurting my arm a bit. So I just use it as a hand-held bag, and that is the true use. If you are looking for a bag to go over your shoulder, this is not the bag for you.

Furthermore, the Speedy does not keep its shape very well. The larger the Speedy size, the more you will lose the shape,Louis Vuitton official website. Also, the more you put in the bag, the more it will lose its shape,www.louisvuittonreviewsoutlet.com. There are aftermarket items used to give the shape back to your bag, but without that, your Speedy will slouch. An inside zip pocket helps out with some organization, but not much.

It sounds like I only gave negatives for the Speedy, which was not my intention. I love my Louis Vuitton Speedys, and I own 3 of them. The 25 cm, 30 cm, and 35 cm. The 35 cm is best for everyday use and will hold more essentials. It will never change being one of the most classic handbags ever. I personally love it, but felt the need to share the downsides.

The bag you want to compare the Speedy to is the Louis Vuitton Neverfull, which has become another House staple. How can you not love this bag? It is lightweight, roomy, and reversible. The strongest point of this bag is its ease of use. The side laces allow you to tighten the bag into a more compact shape or let them out to a full tote size. Either way, the volume of the inside of the bag is vast. And of course, it is reversible, which is a nice touch and not found on many (if any) designer handbags.

It is not that the Speedy is not lightweight, but the large and long shoulder straps of the Neverfull will allow you to put this bag over your shoulder with ease and allocate the weight better for carrying. The shoulder straps are long and slender, without any additional chains or weight, which will not have it dig into your body.

The look of the bag is not nearly as iconic as the Speedy, but it is a great, simple, everyday tote. And an everyday tote is an essential for any collection,Louis Vuitton outlet store. However, you did just tell me you bought a YSL Muse. The Muse offers a similar shape to the Speedy but looks more like the Neverfull if you have the side pulls cinched. I am having a hard time leaning either way for you. I would suggest deciding if you want a bag that can be worn over your shoulder comfortably or not and which looks strikes you the most. We have all delved into the heated discussion of logo bags. To buy or not to buy. We have all discussed and even argued over the who/what/where/when/why/how of logo bags. The bag is accented with brass hardware which gives off a little antique feel. The logo that you can’t help but miss is actually of the Historic Louis Vuitton Trunks & Bags logo. With that being said, this bag is actually simple and kind of cute, but again, I just don’t like the wham-bam-logo. Trimmed with natural cowhide and sporting two engraved buckles at each side, this bag does have some pluses to it. The inside is lined in polyester-and-cotton Monogram Mini lining and has an interior pocket plus and interior snap=hok closure. Sizing up at 13″ x 11.8″ x 3.1″, I feel like this bag will be a toss up between likes and don’t likes. If you are a liker of the bag, find it through eLuxury for $1280.

Vuitton has been focusing its brand toward travel for seasons now, and in that context, having a functional locomotive on your catwalk is not exactly a mystery wrapped in an enigma.

Even so, a behind-the-scenes peek is always fun, particularly when it’s narrated by Marc Jacobs and contains lots of close-up looks at the accessories and clothes from a collection that was rife with texture and variation. The one thing I don’t understand about the video, though, is when Jacobs said that the collection had a lightness to it. To me, long wool and leather topcoats, giant hats and two to four bags per model is anything but light, even if that’s not exactly a criticism. Vlad and I had popped into Louis Vuitton Bal Harbour on May 1st to see some of the newly released bags in person (as well as buy a few goodies ourselves). Our fab SA told Vlad to give the new Congo line from LV a chance. Not a huge fan of Monogram, Vlad was skeptical, but both the SA and I found the Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Congo GM to show lots of summer fun potential. In rather hectic fashion, Shannon and I made our way to New York last Monday for the unique chance to meet and greet the Chief Operating Officer of Louis Vuitton North America, Mr. Daniel Lalonde. When we received the invitation last week whilst being on vacation, there was no real hesitation before realizing that we had to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

Shannon and I had high hopes that the event was going to take place in the flagship store on 5th Avenue, in our fantasies we had envisioned Vuitton clearing a whole floor off eager shoppers and letting the event attendees roam the palace freely.

The disappointment was only faint when a kind SA in the store pointed us to the adjacent building down 57th Street, where part of Louis Vuitton N.A.’s corporate headquarters are located. To my pleasant surprise, the showroom was presenting beautiful pieces of LV’s fall collection, some of which I captured on camera.

Overall, I believe a good 25 people circled in and out of the showroom during the two hours that we chatted, networked, analyzed and cooperated. The publishers invited were mainly local New York fashion bloggers, some of which included our good friends Daniel and Rebecca Saynt, Yuli Ziv, Wendy Lam and the ever-so-fabulous Gala Darling. There were more, sadly I had not the chance to meet everyone.

Purpose of the cocktail & hors d’Å“uvre hour with Vuitton&rsquo,Louis Vuitton bag;s CEO and the delightful Vuitton staff was to continue the ongoing dialogue between the fashion house and us online fashion publishers and bloggers.

Generally speaking, the big challenge faced by independent fashion bloggers is the hesitant recognition and support by well-established fashion houses. Despite the Internet realm and its fashion bloggers having massive customer outreach, strong influence on buying decisions and readerships that challenge long-time print magazines, the relationship between online publishers and companies like Vuitton,Louis Vuitton handbag, Hermes, Gucci and the likes, is still in its infancy. To continue the relationship analogy, fashion houses and traditional print media enjoy a long-lasting marriage with kids, while online publishers are just out on their first date, clumsy, nervous and dripping ice cream on the date’s shoes.

Shannon and I actually had the opportunity to introduce ourselves and have a chat with Mr. Lalonde when he entered the showroom. To our astonishment, he seemed very receptive to our ideas and genuinely interested in our suggestions, requests and input. Not that we expected otherwise, but it was a very refreshing moment to realize that we were being heard and that we had (hopefully) contributed to paving the way for a closer relationship between publishers and LV. A very cool feeling to converse with a corporate head figure that makes decision on a daily basis that have an effect on millions of people. Humbling,Louis Vuitton outlet store, really.

The CEO was not the only corporate figure in attendance that night. It was a sleek gentlemen who I met near the entrance of the showroom, who turned out to be the LV Director Of Advertising Eric Lichtmess. I noticed a yet-so-slight accent in his voice, it turned out that he was indeed from a city near where I grew up in Germany. We engaged in a very interesting discussion on general advertising strategies, Vuitton’s future plans in terms of online presence and devised plans for a possible collaboration. Very nice chap, a delight to talk to.

It was an absolute pleasure to meet everyone in attendance, including the PR managers (thank you Lesley) and other bloggers. Shannon and I had a great time and left the event with a feeling of accomplishment. The travels may have been crazy hectic, but there really is not a price tag on having opportunities, such as this one.

Some accessories junkies look at certain handbag designs and see faces, but this exhibit by British artist Billie Achilleos takes that phenomenon to a whole new level. Between the half-shoes/half-claws shown by Alexander McQueen and Chanel Spring 2010 being show in a barn with smirking models, I thought I had seen every ridiculous thing that Paris Fashion Week had to offer.

And then at Louis Vuitton Spring 2010, creative director Marc Jacobs saw fit to attach furry tails to the bags. Yep, that happened.

As far as bags go, the show started…dreadfully. Most of them appeared to be made of dip-dyed cotton canvas in candy colors with coordinating fluffy appendages streaming off the back, which were sometimes bigger than the bag itself. After a dozen looks, I thought I was in for a very unpleasant show.

But after a little while, things started to look decidedly better,Louis Vuitton Sale. I’m not sure if it was just the fashion show version of Stockholm Syndrome, I guess that’s always possible, but things rallied a bit during the middle and end portions of the show. Instead of canvas bags with animal parts hanging from them, Vuitton returned to the leathers and embossed logos to which fans are slightly more accustomed.

Which is not to say the bags were boring – they weren’t. The opposite, in fact. And they weren’t entirely successful, but I appreciate the combination of colors, materials, and textures that Jacobs attempted in order to make something new out of one of the most recognizable logos in the fashion world. The collection was heavy on messengers, and the ones that combined logo leather with smooth in different colors were probably the best bags of the show, in addition to the duffel bags made of similar textures. Please, Marc Jacobs, if you’re out there: please give the tassel-covered bags a rest. Thanks.

The more I look through the bags from the last half of the collection,www.louisvuittonoutletbusiness.com, the more the eclectic ideas and influences grow on me, and I’m not sure what my final opinion will be once the dust of fashion week has settled. Metallic bags are the bags to carry this holiday season and the IT bag to be seen with is the new Louis Vuitton Miroir Line. Janet Jackson has been photographed carrying this new IT bag, even though the new Miroir line does not officially launch until December 1. The frenzy surrounding this launch is comparable to the 2003 launch of the Cherry Blossom line, with stores only receiving limited numbers of each bag and the wait lists being extremely long,www.louisvillevuittonoutlet.com.

The full Miroir line includes bags representing Louis Vuitton’s most iconic and recognizable shapes: Speedy, Papillon, Keepall, Alma, and Pochette. The line comes in two different colors: Silver and Gold. I must admit that I am not a huge fan of this new line, in fact the silver seems oddly reminiscent of aluminum foil and if you have trouble finding a mirror to touch up your makeup you can always use your bag! In addition, if you’re one of those people who doesn’t like to draw attention to yourself with your bag then this is definitely not for you. Another major problem that is holding me back from loving this line is that the Speedy comes with a price tag of $1330 USD and is made of PVC, therefore causing me to question the durability of such a pricey bag. That said, the frenzy surrounding the Miroir line is unlikely to die down anytime soon and if you are contemplating buying one you should call Louis Vuitton immediately to place yourself on the waiting list, so that you can be one of the first to be carrying this season’s IT bag!
